Water for Asian Cities Programme

Water for Asian Cities (WAC) Programme is a collaborative initiative of the UN-HABITAT and the Governments of Asia. The Programme was officially launched during 3rd World Water Forum with a Memorandum of Understanding signed between ADB and UN-Habitat in March 2003 in Osaka (Japan). The WAC Programme specifically promotes:
  • Pro-poor Water and Sanitation Governance;
  • Urban Water Conservation and Demand Management;
  • Integrated Urban Environmental Sanitation; and
  • Income Generation for the Urban Poor through Community-based Water and Sanitation Services.
WAC Programme is currently engaged in providing pro-poor water and sanitation, spread over more than 50 cities and towns in Bangladesh, Bhutan, Cambodia, India, Indonesia, Lao PDR, Nepal, Pakistan, PR China and Vietnam...
